On Saturday, August 25, Ras Kimono was laid to rest in his hometown of Onicha-Olona in Delta State. It was the last step in a weeklong series of activities carried out to celebrate the life of one of Nigeria’s legendary musicians.
Ras Kimono died in June after a sudden onset of illness. His music industry colleagues including Oritz Wiliki, Daddy Showkey, Tony Okoroji and many others were by his graveside along with his family to bid him farewell. Ras Kimono was buried in a tomb draped with the red, yellow and green colours of the Rastafarian Confraternity of which he was a lifelong member.
