E-wedding? Check. This last weekend Nigerian singer 9ice got married to his new wife, Adetola is resident in the US; the marriage was carried out via Skype video calls.
It is commonplace in parts of Nigeria for couples to get married by proxy, especially when one of the parties are out of the country. Adetola who is a U.S-based Engineer and businesswoman couldn’t make it down to Nigeria for the marriage gave her speech via Skype as 9ice went to ask for her hand in marriage at her parent’s Badagry residence.
This is 9ice’s second marriage. In 2018, he got married to his manager Toni Payne with whom he had his first son, Zion. The union ended in controversial fashion when 9ice indirectly accused Payne of cheating on him with his friend Ruggedman. The crisis would go on for many years until 9ice explicitly stating that that did not happen.
