Nigria’s D’Tigress qualify for FIBA Basketball Women’s World Cup quarter-final Qualification Stage

Nigeria’s D’Tigress have progressed to the quarter-final qualification stage of the 2018 FIBA Basketball Women’s World Cup in Tenerife Spain, courtesy of a 75 – 70 win over Argentina in the final group stage match of the ongoing tournament.

Argentina ranked no 15 in the world came into the encounter on the end of a back to back defeat in the hands of Australia and Turkey and was hoping to get a win against Nigeria to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Nigeria will now play Greece who finished third in Group A in the quarter-final qualification game on Wednesday with the winner of the duel set to face the almighty USA in the quarter-final.

With the win against Argentina, Nigeria becomes the first African team in history to win two games in a single FIBA Basketball Women’s World Cup.

Top performers for the D’Tigress include Promise Amakamara with 16 points, Aisha Mohammed and Ezinne Kalu with 12 points respectively…
