This year, ICT firm MTN, would be joining the city of survivors, land of the ancients, spiritual cradle and seat of the Yorubas Ile-Ife in the culture rich, Olojo festival. The annual Olojo Festival is a celebration which recognises and remembers the great feats by the god of iron Ogun, believed to be the first son of Oduduwa and forefather of the Yoruba people.
Here’s a little background on the Olojo festival –
The Olojo festival or Ogun festival as it is also called commemorates the god Ogun. He was the first god to descend to earth while it was still a marshy wasteland because only he possessed a tool, an iron cutlass that could penetrate the dense vegetation, thus he cleared the way for the other deities to descend. When Obatala (Father of all) had finished molding the physical form of the first ancestors, it was Ogun who added the finishing touches a role he played throughout creation.
