Foundation to sponsor 3 female footballers on U.S. trip

Three female soccer players from the maiden edition of the Afusat Olabimpe Abiodun Female Gold Cup in Ikorodu, Lagos, have won an all-expenses paid trip to the United States of America to further their football career.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the competition was held from Jan. 23 to Feb. 13 at Strong Towers School Sports Field, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

NAN reports that the highest goal scorer, most valuable player and best goal keeper would benefit the U.S trip.

The beneficiaries are Omolara Odebode, highest goal scorer, Anifowose Ayomiposi, Best Goal keeper and Osundina Kemi, the most valuable player of the competition.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Bolowotan, said that the tournament was organised to promote the development of the girl-child.

He expressed the hope that the competition would promote growth of female football.
