NASARAWA State House of Assembly said that it had passed a total of 6 bills into law and passed 23 resolutions within the last one year.
Speaker of the Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, who made the disclosure last Tuesday at a special sitting of the House to mark the end of the first session of the Fifth Assembly in Lafia, said that the infrastructural development witnessed in the state was as a result of the robust and progressive legislative programmes and bills passed by the assembly which had impacted positively on the lives of the people.
“Those six bills passed in to law include the 2015 supplementary appropriation, the 2016 appropriation bill, A bill for a law for the creation of Ogye chiefdom, A bill for a law for the creation of Erroh chiefdom, A bill for a law for the creation of Eholo chiefdom and a bill for a law to amend the local government law 2009 as amended in 2011 and other matters connected thereto and also passed a total of 23 resolutions during the period under review,”.
Speaker Abdullahi also said that steps were already being taken by the house to ensure a resolution of the misunderstanding which led to the suspension of the six lawmakers in the interest of peace and to ensure proper representation.
He also assured the people of the state of the Assembly’s readiness to ensure a cordial relationship among the executive and the legislature in the interest of peace and to achieve speedy development in the state.
The speaker called on the staff of the assembly to be dedicated to their duties, saying that the leadership of the house would leave no stone unturned in order to ensure that matters relating to their welfare and working condition received prompt attention.
