Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi has assigned portfolios to the seven-man National Caretaker Committee.
Only Makarfi and secretary of the committee, Senator Ben Obi, were given portfolios at the May 21 national convention in Jos, where the committee was constituted.
Makarfi announced the portfolios yesterday during the maiden meeting of the staff of the party’s national secretariat and the Peoples Democratic Institute, PDI, with the National Caretaker
Prince Dayo Adeyeye is in charge of publicity while Hajiya Aisha Aliyu takes charge of women and youth.
Senator Abdul Ningi was given the portfolio of organisation and mobilisation while Senator Odion Ogbesia was given charge of financial, treasury and audit departments.
Barrister Kabir Usman is the interim legal adviser of the party.
Makarfi reiterated that the committee would not exceed the period given to it by the National Convention to reorganise, reform and conduct a free, fair, credible and all inclusive National Convention.
