Human right organization based in Enugu, Civil Rights Realization and Advancement Network, CRRAN, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to carry out a thorough, holistic investigation into the activities of former governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime while in office.
President of the group, Olu Omotayo said in a press statement yesterday, that the EFCC should not only investigate Chime for N450 million campaign fund scandal, but other activities of Chime while in office.
Reacting on the backdrop of the recent investigation of the former governor by EFCC over the disbursement of N450 million released to him during the last general election by the former minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, CRRAN, pointed out that the investigation is even belated, because there were earlier petitions to EFCC that Chime be investigated that seemed to have been overlooked.
The statement reads in part, “We therefore demand that the Commission should do a holistic investigation as regards the pending petitions over the looting of the Enugu State treasury by Sullivan Chime Esq., and cronies, not just the issue of unlawful collection of the sum of N450 Million which is just a minute fraction of the massive looting of the treasury by Chime administration,” the organisation avers.
The organisation referred EFFC to an earlier petition written by Barr. Ray Nnaji, a former commissioner in Enugu State and a human rights activist, on how Chime allegedly, fraudulently governed the state.
