GUYS beware Blue Waffle Disease is on the prowl. It clearly ranks above previously known sexually transmitted diseases and zeroing in on the prevalence of free sex that is as common as the air people breath. Of course, sexually transmitted diseases are commonly transmitted without the other person knowing, which is why these are so dangerous in some occasions. In the past it used to be gonorrhoea, syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases. They were all deadly as cure for them was hardly achieved. But that was then.

Soon Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, AIDS, also known as Human Immune Virus, HIV, came on the fore. Its force has been immense as it took the world by storm ravaging homes and rendering many orphans. AIDS has been so devastating that the world first stood at awe before the World Health Organisation, WHO eventually came alive with conscious efforts to rescue humanity from the throes of extinction. According to WHO, expanded access to antiretroviral therapy (ART) has engendered a declining incidence of HIV infection leading to a steep fall globally in the number of adults and children dying from HIV-related causes. The estimated 1.5 million [1.4 – 1.7 million] people dying from HIV globally in 2013 were 22% fewer than in 2009 and 35% fewer than when the number peaked in 2005. Children (younger than 15 years) in 2013 had 31% fewer deaths from HIV compared with 2009 and 40% fewer deaths compared with 2005. Globally, ART programmes averted an estimated 7.6 million [6.9 – 8.4 million] deaths between 1995 and 2013.
