Before the simulated postponement of the general election scheduled to hold on 14 and 28, February, 2015, Chief Edwin Clark and some ethnic champions had called for the removal of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega. On account of the closeness of the group to the Presidency not a few Nigerians believed that the federal government had decided to fire the INEC helmsman.
