Governor Seriake Dicksonof Bayelsa State
Bayelsa state Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson over the weekend called on all political appointees to redouble their efforts at re-connecting with the people, particularly at the grassroots in a bid to spread the positive message of restoration irrespective of the lean financial times.
Governor Dickson made the call at the swearing-in of the commissioner for Sports Development, Mr. Perekiye John Buruboyefe and four special advisers at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Yenagoa.
The Special Advisers are, Hon. Graham Ipigansi for Federal Projects and Liasion, Belemu Nemine is in charge of Special Duties, Barr. Peter Oku Afagha is to oversee government properties, while Chief Abednego Don-Evarada is on Public Affairs.
According to Dickson who is preparing for re-election in December, as active members of the Restoration Government, assembly and executive council members as well as other political appointees have a duty to identify with the challenges of their constituents towards making life more meaningful for them.
His words: “I like to use this opportunity to call on all political appointees; this is when you should reward your government. This is when you should prove yourself as active members of the restoration team. Every weekend, every activity back home, every social activity, this is the time that commissioners and assembly members and other appointees need to reconnect to their people; prioritize and assist them in however little you can.”
While applauding the restoration team for its efforts and contributions over the various support groups, Governor Dickson said the gesture would go a long way in boosting the welfare policies that were already in place.
