Bishop Matthew Kukah suffered a backlash from Nigerians for saying that President Muhammadu Buhari should not probe immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan, Kukah still have the ears of Buhari and was received at the Aso Villa on 27 August.
Nigerians vehemently kicked against Buhari associating with Kukah and the National Peace Committee headed by former head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar for urging President Buhari to leave Jonathan and his former aides out of his anti-corruption drive.
Some members of the peace committee at the meeting on August 12 included the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar; Cardinal John Onaiyekan; and the President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.
Others are: Primate of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh; Justice Rose Ukeje (rtd); Prof. Ameze Guobadia; Publisher of Vanguard Newspaper, Sam Amuka; Dame Priscilla Kuye; Sen. Ben Obi; Dr Yunusa Tanko; and Dr Arthur-Martin Aginam.
