Some Nigerians at Silverbird Cinemas on Thursday called for improvement on the standard of production of Nigerian movies.
The movie goers, who spoke with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) in Abuja, shared their opinions on how the standard of Nigerian movies could gain patronage.
Ms Rachel Collins, a Youth Corps member said: “People don’t watch Nigerian movies because the quality of the movie is poor.”
“They are very predictable; nobody wants to watch a movie that when you see the title you already know the story.
“The casting is not good; they just select anyone to act.
“I think they should improve on the production quality of their movies.
“Although, recent Nigerian movies have proven to be good with brilliant storylines, qualified actors and actresses,” she said.
Mr Obinna Chinonso, a Student of Vital University, Enugu also called on the Nigerian movie industry to be realistic in acting out crime scenes in their movies.
“The industry is trying its best but I think they should be realistic. The quality is not too good and the storyline should be elaborate.
“The likes of Uche Jombo’s movies are okay, I think they should build on the quality of the movies.”
Miss Farida Nasir, a movie goer, said: “let us make our movies look real, I feel people will love to watch movies that are more real than make-believe.”
She advised that the producers should take their time to make the movies so that it would be perfect.
Mr Victor Martins, another movie goer said: “they should make everything look real.”
“Accident scenes in Nigerian movies are not viable. if they can improve on that, people would be very impressed and have the urge to want to watch the movies,” he said.
Miss Hannah Paul said: “The industry needs to improve on good quality of sounds, lighting, and graphics.”
