Charles Okah,the elder brother of MEND leader, Henry Okah, arraigned by the SSS.
The Nigeria Prisons Service on Wednesday denied the purported death of Charles Okah, the alleged mastermind of the 2010 Independence Day bombing in Abuja in which scores of people died.
Rumours and reports on the internet Wednesday afternoon had it that Okah died in prison shortly after he returned from court Tuesday where he attempted to kill himself.
The Nigeria Prisons Service spokesman, Francis Enobore, was quoted as saying that the suspect was not dead.
On Tuesday the terror suspect was prevented from committing suicide while in court by security operatives attached to Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
He is being tried for terrorism. In the absence of his counsel in the course of Tuesday’s proceedings, he asked Justice Kolawole for permission to speak on what he described as “endless trial”.
Immediately he ended his speech, he took a chair and rushed toward a window on the third floor of the five-storey building and tried to take a plunge through the window before security operatives grabbed him. …Read More
