Nigeria’s Falcons draw bye as CAF releases 2016 AWC qualifying fixtures

Nigeria’s Super Falcons and other four teams have been drawn bye as Confederation of African Football, CAF, released the fixtures for the qualifying series of the African Women Cup of Nations which will hold in Cameroon in 2016.
Other nations that were drawn bye in the first round of the qualifiers are Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, South Africa and Ivory Coast.
The first leg of the qualifiers will be played in the weekend of 4,5 or 6 March 2016 with the second leg coming up in the weekend of 18, 19 and 20 March 2016.
The teams that were drawn bye will now join the winners of the first round to play in the second and final round which first leg will hold in the weekend of 8, 9 and 10 April, 2016, while second leg matches are scheduled for the weekend of 22, 23 and 24 April 2016.
CAF says seven teams will emerge from the qualifiers of the Africa Women Cup of Nations to join hosts Cameroon for the final tournament scheduled for 19 November to 3 December 2016.
The draws were conducted on the sidelines of the recently held CAF Annual Meetings from 21-28 October 2015, by the Women’s Football Standing Committee during its meetings.
