Parents and children catching fun at the Millennium Park Abuja.
Some amusement parks and eateries in Abakaliki, Ebonyi capital, recorded business lull on Christmas Day, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
When NAN visited the Fatilami Park and Mr Bigg’s eatery in the state capital on Friday, only few people were seen having pastimes with families and friends.
Mr Patrick Nweze, the Manager of Desire Kitchen and Bar, told NAN that the eatery witnessed low patronage because some fun seekers had travelled out of town.
Nweze also noted that some families were trying to cut cost because of non-payment of salary.
“Some travelled to celebrate with other family members at home and some do not have money to spend because December salary had yet to be paid.
“We are still expecting children and their parents around evening, so there is still time,” Nweze said.
The Manager of Fatilami Park, Mr Uche Ogbonna, said that most people preferred visiting these centres towards evening.
“People prefer staying at home on Christmas Day for sober reflection while some go out to share generously with the less privileged,” Ogbonna said.
Some children on holidays shared their views on Christmas with NAN, describing the period as season of showing love to one another.
Miss Erica Oga and Master Tochukwu Azubuike spotted at Fatilami Park with parents, described Christmas as period to remember birth of Jesus Christ.
They said that it was needful to visit motherless homes and share with the poor at Christmas.
“We visited motherless babies home before coming to the park, because mommy said it was the best place to visit and share what we have with others,” they said. …Read More
