Governor Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers
Dr. Linda Ayade, wife of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, has hosted thousands of children as part of Carnival Calabar.
The event which took place on Sunday inside the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, the state capital, witnessed the children demonstrating their knowledge about issues regarding climate change which was the theme of the event.
One after the other, the children spoke about the destructive impact of climate change and measures that could be taken to mitigate it.
Apart from the feasting and merrymaking during the event, the children were told to always plant the seeds from the fruits they eat and to plant other trees in order to preserve the environment.
The Governor’s wife later gave all the children parting gifts and admonished them to be part of the tree planting campaign of the state government.
Carnival Calabar continued on Monday with various groups and cultural troupes parading the streets of Calabar in their colourful costumes. …Read More
