A former Commissioner for Land and Survey in Rivers State, Ezemonye Ezekiel Amadi, has dragged the Chief Judge of Rivers state, Justice Daisy Okocha to Supreme Court over the constitutionality of her appointment and swearing in as substantive Chief Judge of the state.
Ezemonye, a Lawyer and staunch member of All Progressive Congress,APC, and critic of the Governor Nyesom Wike administration served as the Commissioner for Land and Survey under the administration of Rotimi Amaechi and was supportive of the appointment of Justice Peter C Aguma who was suspended by the National Judicial Council as an acting Chief Judge during the immediate past administration.
He said it was wrong for Wike to appoint Justice Daisy Okocha who he said have 14 days to retire from service.
Amadi said he had a case against the Justice at Court of Appeal but that it was heard before learned Justices passed a judgement in Justice Daisy Okocha’s favour and the Governor Wike hurriedly swore her in as substantive Chief Judge of the state 14 days to her retirement.
Ezemonye said he decided to exercise his rights by appealing the case for the Supreme Court to adjudicate if it was legal and proper to swear her in as Chief Judge when she was billed to retire in 14 days time.
He warned that if the apex court upholds his appeal, then any action taken by Justice Daisy Okocha will be null and void. …Read More
