CHAN: Glo first to hail Eagles after 4-1 bashing of Niger

Few minutes after Nigeria handed 4-1 defeat to Niger, the country’s biggest corporate supporter of football, Globacom, was first to congratulate the home-based Super Eagles on their victory over the Mena in their first group C match at the on-going African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Monday.
The Super Eagles defeated the Mena to take the commanding position in the group which also comprises Tunisia and Guinea who had earlier played 2-2 draw.
After a goalless first half, the Eagles, with pep talk from Coach Sunday Oliseh, went ahead in the 46th minute through Moses Okoro. This was followed by a hattrick by Nigeria’s Chisom Chikatara who scored in the 73rd, 81st and 90th Minutes to emerge man of the match.
Zakari Adebayor had earlier pulled one back for Niger in the 80th minute.
In a press statement after the match in Lagos on Monday, sponsor of the national teams, Globacom commended the team for winning the match and amassing the three maximum points at stake.
Globacom advised the Super Eagles not to “leave any stone unturned as they work toward a good outing in the second group C match and ensure they emerge victorious in order to consolidate their position and qualify for the next round.”
“Qualification for the next round by Super Eagles is a must and all hands must be on deck to make this a reality,” the statement added.
The company also enjoined Nigerians not to relent in giving the much needed support to the Super Eagles through prayers and goodwill messages as they continue their campaign to qualify from group C.
