Amosun gets approval to unveil new state logo

The new logo for Ogun State
Ogun State House of Assembly has granted approval to the Governor IBikunle Amosun’s request to change the state logo in celebration of the state’s 40th anniversary.
In a letter sent to the House by the governor on 4 January 2016, he stated that, “our beloved state will be 40 years on 3rd February, 2016 and as part of the activities marking the occasion, the State Government is desirous of unveiling a new logo for the state to commemorate the anniversary.
“I therefore forward herewith the logo to the Honourable House for the required legislative concurrence to unveil it,” the letter reads in part.
The approval was granted through a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Adeyinka Mafe, (Sagamu 2) and seconded by Hon. Yetunde Sogbein (Odeda). It was also supported by the whole House.
The new logo with a crest which symbolises agriculture, knowledge, entreprise and dignity are all attributes of the people of Ogun state.
Opening debate on the motion, Hon. Mafe explained that the new symbol of the State would appraise the founding fathers effort towards the growth and development of all sectors of the state’s economy since inception.
In their contribution to the debate, lawmakers like; Ganiyu Oyedeji, Rasaq Oduntan, Adeleye Adebiyi, Olusola Sonuga and the Minority leader, Olawale Alausa described the new logo as an all-encompassing identity, noting that, “it would portray the cultural heritage of the state”, urging other members to support the request.
Also, members including the Deputy Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, Olayiwola Ojodu, Idowu Olowofuja and Tunde Sanusi appreciated the timely initiative of the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for preserving the values and efforts of the progenitors of the state, as the new logo gave a sense of direction to the unborn generations to contribute meaningfully to the development of …Read More
