Kaduna Market fire: Senator Sani donates N1m to affected traders

Chairman Senate Committee on Foreign Debt and Deputy Committee Chairman, Foreign Affairs, Senator Shehu Sani on Wednesday donated one million naira to traders who were affected by the fire outbreak that razed down over 500 shops at the Kaduna Railway Market.
The senator representing Kaduna Central, who made the donation while addressing affected traders when he visited the scene of the outbreak to sympathise with them, also promised to speak with Nigeria Railway Corporation authorities on the need to provide alternative trading place for them.
While describing the fire outbreak as a “highly regrettable and traumatising incicent,” the Senator assured the traders of prompt support from both the railway authorities and Ministry of Transport.
According to him, no reasonable leader will abandon his subjects during a critical period such as this.
“The market is a historic market. There is no one living in Kaduna that has not benefitted from the market. So I’m here to sympathize with you over the unfortunate incident that affected all of us in Kaduna South and not only you.
“As a senator representing this zone, I have written a letter to the Minister of Transportation asking him to send representatives to see things for themselves. The only assistance they offer you is for you to relocate back to your original place.
“The place has been abandoned and now taken over by snakes and weeds. The best is for the management of Railway Station to relocate you back to your original place because this place is congested.
As for the trader who died in the fire inferno, Sani promised to sponsor his children for two years.
He appealed to the traders to avoid similar disaster in future.
