Thousands of Rivers people stormed the Port Harcourt International Airport to welcome Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside from Abuja on Saturday.
Peterside who was accompanied by state Executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by its state chairman, Dr Davies Ikanya, Asita H. Asita, the Deputy Governorship candidates were greeted by thousands of party faithful.
Peterside told the crowd of supporters that he and the party would abide by the Supreme Court judgment but that was not an endorsement of killings and violence that characterised the 2015 h=general elections and hoped that PDP will not repeat such in upcoming elections.
“We all know that over 100 people were killed by power mongers in Rivers State. We know election materials were hijacked. We know election properly so-called didn’t happen in Rivers State. But we accept the verdict of the Supreme Court. That has not stopped the verdict of the all-knowing God.” Peterside said.
The APC governorship candidate and members of the party will hold a Thanksgiving service at the Abundant Life Evangelical Mission Church, along Psychiatric road, Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt
Governor Nyesom Wike had rode on a motorcade in an open roof SUV round some streets of Port Harcourt on Friday to thank the people and Saturday to inspect some projects.
