Sunday Oliseh and NFF President, Amaju Pinnick
A seasoned football adminstrator, Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe, has strongly advised Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to relieve Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh of his job now before it is too late.
Gara-Gombe, former chairman of Gombe State Football Association, said with the way Oliseh is going about his job and most importantly his outside the field conducts of late, he forsees Nigeria failing to qualify for the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
He said the immediate tasks at hand for the Eagles, the two-legged qualying matches against the Pharaohs of Egypt in March, would be hard to win under Oliseh.
“I have always maintained that Oliseh is not good for the job,” said Gara-Gombe, who owned the defunct Bubayaro Football Club of Gombe.
“It is so sad that when we said that the coach is not good, unfortunately, the people in the NFF christened him the ‘Guardiola of Africa’.
“For Oliseh to say that he did not beg for the job in the first instance is an insult to the people of this country. If Oliseh continues in this job, I want to believe that there is something that most of us don’t know in the marriage between him and the NFF,” he said.
Nigeria play group leaders and seven-time AFCON winners, Egypt on 23 March in Kaduna and 27 March in an away match in Cairo. The Pharaohs are leading Group G with 6 points, followed by Nigeria with 4 points, while Tanzania are having 1 point. Chad are at the bottom of the group with zero point.
With only one team to pick the group ticket to Gabon AFCON, Egypt are seen as the obstacle for Nigeria to qualify from the group which will be determined in the March double header ties.
