Adeyemi Dipeolu
Who advises President Muhammadu Buhari on the economy? Who and who make up the economic team?
The Daily Trust newspaper went in search of the answers and learnt that contrary to the ignorance outside of Aso Rock, President Buhari has been working with an economic team, made of some of his ministers, his vice-president and a special economic adviser who works directly with the vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo. The Vice president heads the team.
The adviser is Dr Adeyemi(not Oluyemi) Dipeolu, a former Director of Capacity Development at UN Economic Commission of Africa, based in Addis Ababa.
He was appointed into the position in 2013 and had served since 2009 as chief of staff at UNECA.
He was educated at the Universities of South Africa, Cambridge, Oxford, and Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University.
According to a biography provided by nairaland.com, Dipeolu joined the United Nations in 2005, following an illustrious career in the Nigerian Foreign Service.
He started as a Third Secretary in 1980 and rose to the rank of Ambassador. In the course of his work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs specialising in African affairs and international economic cooperation, he also served in the Nigerian Presidency, the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations in Geneva, and in the Nigerian diplomatic missions in Pretoria, South Africa; Addis Ababa; Ethiopia, and Caracas, Venezuela. …Read More
