Cult gangs slaughter 9 in Rivers LGs

There have been reported killings allegedly carried out by rival cult gangs at Ogbele community of Ahoada East Local Government Area, and Unyangala community of Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The cultists invaded the two communities in the early hours of Sunday, leaving nine youths dead.
According to the account, four persons were killed each in Ogbele in Ahoada East LGA and Unyangala in Andoni LGA, while one person was killed in Ikwerre LGA.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ikwerre LGA, Samuel Nwanosike had at the weekend banned the use of motorcycles as means of transportation both for commercial and private persons in the local government area.
Nwanosike, who is also the Deputy Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in a statement he personally signed, directed security agencies to enforce the ban as an attempt to checkmate the activities of cult groups, kidnappers and robbers in the local government area.
Rivers State Police command is yet to comment on the latest killings.
In January, a 9-year-old girl who was sent on an errand by her mother in Ahoada town in Ahoada East local Government was raped to death by suspected cultists in a revenge against her brother who was a member of a rival cult group.
