Asaba and its environs in Delta registered its first rainfall on Monday night NAN reports.
The rain, which started at about 11:45 p.m. on Monday, stopped at about 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday and came without wind and thunderstorms.
NAN reports that the rain left patches of water in most parts of Asaba metropolis and made access to some of the streets, particularly the Direct Labour Road (DLR) difficult.
Some of the residents thanked God for the rain, which ushered in the new month of March.
Mrs Patricia Nebolise, a civil servant, said that the rain helped to cool an already tensed atmosphere.
“At least we slept well last night. There was no heat as the weather became cool during and after the rain. The rain was calm and there is no report of disaster.”
Mr Evans Chukwudi, a taxi driver, called on the state government to fix the direct labour road to ease the pressures on the busy Nnebisi Road in Asaba.
“As you can see, just for the first rain, the road is already gathering water in most portions along the road.
“We pass through the road to avoid the busy OgebeOgogno Market in Nnebisi Road, but just for last night’s rain, it has become difficult to pass through some areas along the DLA Road and other roads in Asaba.
“We pray that the state government will intervene and do something on the bad spots of the road to enable us continue to use the road,” Chukwudi said. …Read More
