Edo judge washes hands off case against Oshiomhole

Justice Esohe Ikponmwen of Edo State High Court on Tuesday washed her hands off a case brought before it by the sacked Chairman of Oredo local government council, Osaro Obazee, against the state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole‎, the State House of Assembly and two others over his alleged illegal removal from office by the House.
P.M.NEWS recalls that Obazee had in September last year, approached the court to challenge his removal over alleged financial impropriety and other charges.
Justice Ikponmwen had fixed judgement in the case for 23 February, but later deferred it, following a new application brought before it by counsel to the claimant, Kingsley Obamogie.
However, at the hearing on Tuesday, Justice Ikponmwen said the case file would be sent to the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Cromwell Idahosa, to re-assign it to another judge at a later date that would be communicated to the parties involved.
“I cannot continue the case,” she said, admitting that “there could be interest which are personal.”
The judge then warned parties to the suit not to speculate because no reason was given by the court.
In his reaction, counsel to the claimant, Mr. Kingsley Obamogie who expressed shock, said the decision of the court was frustrating the course of justice.
“We get frustrated when we have this kind of matter. We are not happy. We cannot be satisfied. Everyone is out to get justice,” he sai‎d. ‎ …Read More
