MAPOLY to award degrees soon — Amosun

Management, staffs and students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Ojere, Abeokuta Thursday expressed happiness when the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun disclosed that the institution would soon award degrees.
The governor stated this at the 14th Convocation ceremony of the institution, held at the OGD hall of the institution in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
Amosun revealed that all necessary documentations were near conclusion for the institution to begin running degree programmes.
According to him, “We have approached the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) and very soon the institution would become a degree awarding one.
“The state government would continue to provide affordable, qualitative and standardised education. No government alone can fund education, so, we are encouraging private sector participation and we also promise to do our best to make education more affordable to ordinary citizens.”
The governor, in his usual bid to encourage excellence, promised all students, who graduated with distinction authomatic employment by the state government.
The Chairman of the institution’s Governing Council, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, in her remarks, revealed that the institution would soon establish School of Agriculture Technology.
The Iyalode of Yorubaland posited that the school had arable, vast of land for agriculture, adding that the School of Agriculture Technology would be a welcome one.
She used the medium to warn all land speculators who had made incursions into the institution’s land to steer off or face serious government wrath.
Lawson, who lamented that “land speculators had constituted menace and major hindrance to the physical development of the institution, commended the governor on his efforts to eject the illegal occupants.
Prof. Oludele Itiola, the institution Rector thanked all the invited guests as he assured them of better and fully baked students from the students.
He appreciated his team for their unalloyed support, promised that adequate reward awaits good performance.
