A computer science graduate of Katsina State Polytechnic, Muhammed Abdulahi said he wears Air Force uniform to escort vehicles carrying goods to
make ends meet.
Abdulahi, who was arrested by Air force personnel at Agege area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, on 27 February, 2016 before he was handed over to the Police at X squad for further investigation revealed this to journalists when he was paraded Tuesday.
According to Abdulahi, on 17 January, 2016 Lance Corporal Haruna Ali serving at Air Force Base, Ikeja brought the uniform for him to keep for the younger
brother who took part in Air Force recruitment in 2014, but he (Abdulahi) decided to be using the uniform when his elder brother sold the commuter bus he was
using to shuttle between Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and Abuja and used the money to travel out of the country.
On how long he has been doing the business of escorting vehicles, Abudulahi said he started the business early last February and the day of his arrested was the third time.
“I started to escort vehicle early February. The first time I escorted a vehicle carrying beans and I was paid N2,500, the second time I escorted a vehicle
that carried water melon and was paid N2,000, while this last one I was paid N3,000 and the vehicle carried yam. It was this third time I was arrested at Agege by Air
Force men,” he said.
Abudulahi also revealed that he had arrange with Haruna Ali to buy the uniform for N5,000 but had not paid him the money before his arrest.
When asked why he did not join the Army instead of impersonating, he said he had made three attempts to join the Army, Navy and Air force respectively
