Nigeria’s Philibus Sharubutu has finished in the top group at the Schneider Electric – sponsored Paris Marathon 2016, which took place on Sunday, April 3.
Sharubutu, who was sponsored to the race by Schneider Electric, clocked 2 hours 32 seconds, just 25 minutes behind the eventual winner, Cyprian Kotut of Kenya. By virtue of his performance, Sharubutu ranked in the top 40 out of over 50,000 runners who participated in the annual race.
Commenting on Sharubutu’s performance, Anne Ezeh, the Field Marketing & Access to Energy Director, Schneider Electric Nigeria said, “As a sponsor, Schneider Electric is excited by the performance of Philibus who donned the Nigerian colours at the race. We are confident that he has gained valuable experience which will enhance his performance in future competitions. We are also optimistic that this performance will encourage more Nigerians to participate in long distance races’.
Ezeh stated that Schneider Electric also sponsored Dinnatu Yohanna to the Paris Marathon as a demonstration of the company’s support for the development of indigenous talent in Nigeria.
