A 23-year old man has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for attempting to kill his mum in order to sell their family house in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
The suspect, Busayo Baruwa allegedly brought a knife to kill his mum, Orija Baruwa after she refused to release their house property documents to enable him to sell their house.
The incident happened at 7 Isuti road in Igando area, Lagos where they reside and where the house in question is located.
P.M.NEWS gathered that Busayo approached his mom and informed her that he wanted to sell the house and had gotten a buyer so as to raise money to start his life.
He also told her that the buyer had agreed to buy the house for an undisclosed amount of money and what they needed was to sight the documents to execute the contract.
However, Orija turned down his request and informed him that if such decision would be taken, other children would be involved.
She also told him that she was not even willing to sell the house and would not live the rest of her life as a tenant.
Busayo became angry and reportedly brought out a knife and held her to kill her before she raised alarm.
The neighbours who heard the alarm rushed in and prevented Busayo from killing her.
The matter was reported to the police at Igando division and Busayo was arrested and charged before Ejigbo magistrate’s court with attempted murder under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi granted him bail with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
