The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detectives have launched a massive manhunt for former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode over the N2.5 billion withdrawn from the account of the National Security Office in 2015.
In the past, Fani-Kayode had claimed he received no direct funds from the office of the ONSA and was not involved in any fraudulent practice while carrying out his duty as Director of Media and Publicity, Jonathan/Sambo 2015 Presidential Campaign.
But the EFCC believes he has some questions to answer and efforts to arrest him have began.
On Wednesday, the EFCC arrested former Imo state governor, Achike Udenwa, one of the beneficiaries of the money, meant for arms purchase but diverted to fund former president Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign.
Fani-Kayode reportedly got N840million of the money, the largest. The money was paid in three tranches into his Zenith Bank, Maitama branch account with No.1004735721.
The balance on this account as at 31st December, 2015 was N189, 402.72.
In his response in the past to the unfolding scandal, he said he got the cash for campaign purposes and that he rendered and accounted for how it was spent.

“He never knew the source of the cash,” he said.
“All attempts by our operatives to locate the whereabouts of Mr. Fani-Kayode have failed because he has not only switched off his phones, he has virtually gone underground,” an EFCC source told TheNation newspaper.
“We will fish him out wherever he is. Having been watch-listed by the EFCC, he cannot hide for long,” the EFCC official said.
The Goodluck Support Group got N320 million; Achike Udenwa and Viola Onwuliri N350 million; Nenadi Usman N140 million; Olu Falae N100m and Okey Ezenwa N100million.
