The Taraba Police Command has arrested 10 suspected criminals with large cache of arms and ammunitions during separate operations.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Shaba Alkali disclosed this at a news conference on Friday in Jalingo while parading the suspects before newsmen.
Alkali explained that the operations in Bali, Donga, Gassol and Takum local government areas, carried out by SARS, in collaboration with the local communities and vigilante, led to the recovery of five AK47 rifles.
He said other items recovered included two assault rifles, several rounds of different calibres of ammunition, and a red Toyota Corolla car.
“The suspects in custody are giving relevant information to help the ongoing investigation and would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed”, he said.
The commissioner warned criminal elements bent on disturbing the peace of the state to have a re-think over their activities or face the full wrath of the law.
Alkali urged the people of the state to be vigilant and share useful information with the police for their own safety.
