The international friendly match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the national team of Luxembourg has been brought forward by 24 hours.
A letter to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, by the Football Association of Luxembourg at the weekend explained that the match, earlier scheduled for 1 June, had to be moved forward by a day as a result of the Tour de France cycling competition, with Luxembourg much involved.
“The change in date will not in any way affect our programme . The entire contingent will move to Luxembourg from Rouen in France, where we will play Mali on 27 May. We will still have three days to train for the match against Luxembourg,” Eagles’ Team Administrator, Enebi Achor, said in a statement made available by the Media Department of the NFF early on Sunday.
The match in Luxembourg will take place at 7pm on Tuesday, 31 May, at the Josy Barthel Stadium in that country’s capital city.
Achor also disclosed that a number of technical and administrative officials have now been issued Schengen visas, enabling them to enter the two countries for the matches. The NFF has also submitted fresh applications for those who were earlier denied.
The Super Eagles play Mali’s Les Aiglons in Rouen on 27 May and play Luxembourg in that country on 31st May, as part of preparations for the first matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying series to be played later this year.
