Arsenal are interested in signing Brazil starlet, Gabriel Barbosa, according to reports in Brazil. The Gunners desperately want to bring in a striker this summer, having missed out on No.1 target, Jamie Vardy.

ESPN Brazil claim Arsene Wenger has now turned his attention to the man nicknamed ‘Gabigol’ for his striking exploits.

The 19-year-old recently revealed he has offers and, while he would be very interesting in joining one of Europe’s top clubs, he is also reluctant to leave his hometown right away.

He said: “Yes, I have offers from some of the big clubs in Europe that interest me, but that is for my parents and my employers but I am happy at Santos.

Gabigol is becoming a sensation in his homeland and is the subject of a £25million bid from Fiorentina.

Santos has been a haven for producing sensational talent over the years.

Pele spent the majority of his career at the club, which also gave football the likes of Neymar, Robinho, Diego, Elano and Felipe Anderson.

Gabigol was called up by Brazil for their ill-fated Copa America Centenario campaign which ended in a humiliating group stage elimination after defeat to Peru.

The striker scored in the 7-1 hammering of Haiti.
