Eid-el-Fitr: NSCDC deploys 1,500 personnel in Jigawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa, says it will deploy 1,500 personnel to ensure hitch-free sallah celebration in the state.

The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Malam Muhammad Durumin-Iya, made this known on Tuesday in Dutse.

Durumin-Iya said the officers would be deployed to Dutse, the state capital and other major towns across the state.

He explained that the gesture was to provide adequate security during and after Sallah celebrations across the state.

“As part of plans to ensure hitch-free event, and adequate security, during and after Sallah in Jigawa, we will also deploy about 150 special force, which comprises of Special Armed Squad and Counter Terrorism Squad.

“Also officers in the Anti-riot, Bomb Detection and Disposal unit, Intelligence and Detective unit as well as Rescue and Medical team will be deployed,” he said.

The commandant said the officers would be stationed at strategic locations such as prayer grounds, children parks, emirs’ palaces and durbar routes and other suspected crime spots.

According to him, others would be stationed to help in the control of crowd.

Durumin-Iya added that the corps had taken proactive measures to ensure a peaceful and successful Sallah celebration in the state.

He, therefore, advised people to cooperate with all security personnel for peaceful celebration.

He further urged the members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the nearest security formation within their localities.

“The command also wishes the good people of Jigawa a happy and blessed Eid-el-Fitr celebration in advance,” he said.
