The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned motorists to desist from using expired tyres, to stem road crashes in the country.
Mr David Mendie, Gombe State Sector Commander of the corps, made the appeal while briefing newsmen in Gombe on Friday.
He said that the use of expired tyres was a major factor responsible for road crashes and the loss of thousands of lives in the country today.
“I am advising motorists to ensure that they always checked the manufacturing and expiry dates of tyres before buying, so that they can be able to enjoy them for about four years.
“They must also ensure that they put in them the prescribed pressure, to prevent blow-outs that may lead to road crashes,” he said.
Mendie also urged motorists and commercial vehicle drivers to stop patronising sellers of “used tyres”.
