5 Market leaders docked for alleged N18m theft

The Police in Anambra on Thursday arraigned five market leaders at an Onitsha Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing and misappropriating over N18 million public fund.

Those arraigned were Anthony Chiloli, President of Uba Planks and Joist Association (UPJA), Bridge Head, Onitsha, and other members of his executives — Ajaegbo Godwin, Odera Nwosu, Anadumaka Chukwuma and Rapuluchukwu Okafor.

The Prosecutor, ASP Crescent Ogbu, said that the accused persons allegedly committed the offence between 2012 and 2016.

Ogbu said Chiloli and Ajaegbo, between Oct. 18, 2012 and May 15, 2016, conspired to commit the offence punishable under Section 495 (a) of the Criminal Code, revised laws of Anambra, 1991.
