N1.97bn fraud: Orubebe discharged and acquitted

Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, on Tuesday, discharged and acquitted former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Godsday Orubebe over the N1.97bn fraud preferred against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission.

The court struck out the six charges filed against the former minister after the ICPC withdrew the case file on Tuesday, Punch reports.

Orubebe was charged along with others including an Assistant Director at the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Oludare Davis Alaba.

Other defendants were the Director of Contracts, Gitto Costruzioni Generali Nig. Ltd., Mr. Ephraim Towede Zari.
