Kaduna Electric to consider alternative power generation

The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company says it plans to generate electricity from an alternative power source other than the national grid.

This is contained in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by Mr Idris Abdullahi, a spokesman of the company, on Wednesday in Kaduna.

The statement said that the Company’s Head of Compliance, Malam Lawal Lawal, gave indication during a Customer Consultative Forum in Kaduna.

According to Lawal, the move is necessitated by the current generation capacity of Generation Companies of Nigeria (GENCOs), which he said is not enough.

He added that as part of efforts to augment the allocation the company receives from the national grid, it has begun talks with other companies for solar and wind sources.
