Rainstorm destroys houses in Keffi

A heavy rainfall, accompanied by storm, destroyed many houses and uprooted many trees on Monday in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

A correspondent, who went round the town after the early morning downpour, observed that the roofs of many houses had been blown off, while some of the uprooted trees were thrown across the highway.

The development led to a heavy traffic gridlock on both sides of the road.

The storm also uprooted electric poles, with many of them thrown into people’s compounds.

Worst hit by the traffic gridlock were the Federal Medical Centre and Market Roads where youths were seen cutting branches of fallen trees, to enable passage.

Some Keffi residents, who spoke on the destruction by the rain that lasted one and a half hours, urged government and individuals to assist the victims.
