For shooting a medical doctor, his wife and two children in a car, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Bayelsa Command, says it is investigating allegation of misuse of firearms against two of its personnel.

The state Commandant, Mr Desmond Agu, made the disclosure in an interview in Yenagoa on Saturday.

The NSCDC officers allegedly shot at a medical doctor’s car with his wife and two children on board for hitting a stray dog on April 28 in Yenagoa.

While the dog escaped unhurt, the resident doctor was wounded and being hospitalised.

Agu said that the command had already received a petition forwarded by the state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) on the matter.

In view of this, he said that the Commandant-General of the NSCDC had ordered full investigation.
