LASG: We didn’t issue directive to conduct School Assembly in Yoruba

The Lagos State Government has debunked reports trending on the social media in respect of a purported directive issued to Schools in Lagos State to conduct Assembly in the Yoruba language on Thursdays.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Education on Friday stated that “the reports trending on social media that the government has directed that teaching and learning of Yoruba are now compulsory from Primary to Senior Secondary Schools (SS.III) as from next session is false and unfounded”.

The statement said the clarification became necessary following stories on the social media which had been generating reactions and were capable of misleading the pupils, students, education stakeholders and the general public.
