Some indigenes of Akwa Ibom, under the umbrella of Akwa Ibom Conscience, on Thursday staged a peaceful protest against a plan by their state government to build new Governor’s Lodge in Lagos state.
The leader of the group, Mr Inibehe Effiong, a human rights activist, who led the protesters at the Akwa Ibom State Liaison Office in Victoria Island, Lagos, said there was no justifiable reason for the new lodge.
Effiong alleged that the government was planning to spend huge funds on the project, arguing that such money could be used to settle the salaries of workers and pensioners.
