A 27-year-old man, Olorunwa Ogundare, who allegedly assaulted his neighbour, Shade Taiwo, by beating her up and using a broken bottle to stab her in the eye, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Ogundare, a resident of Ipodo Street, Ikeja, is standing trial on a charge of assault, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Ihonwa, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 14, at their residence.
Ihonwa said that the accused assaulted the complainant by beating her to a pulp and also using a broken bottle to stab her in the eye.
The prosecutor alleged that Taiwo said the fight started as a result of an argument which ensued between her and the accused.
Ihonwa alleged that the complainant said that the accused claimed she was very rude to him, so he decided to teach her a lesson by beating her up.
