University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH)

Members of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) branch on Thursday suspended their three weeks strike over poor conditions of service.

The UITH branch Chairman of JOHESU, Mr Olutunde Oluwawawumi, announced the suspension of the strike while addressing hundreds of the striking workers at a congress meeting in Ilorin on Thursday.

The chairman directed all categories of health workers with the UITH to resume work on Friday.

Oluwawumi lamented that the management of UITH has been paying an “amputated arrears’’.

“Since the resumption of the current Chief Medical Director a payment of arrears of workers’ salaries and allowances have been amputated in nature,” the chairman said.
