President of the World Bank Group, Mr. Jim Yong Kim Thursday said President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria specifically requested that the group shift focus to the northern region which remains Nigeria’s most impoverished and under developed region due to a couple of factors including the destruction caused by the Boko Haram, a terror group.
President Kim spoke in response to a question during a press conference at the ongoing 2017 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C.
He said: “You know, in my very first meeting with President Buhari he said specifically that he would like us to shift our focus to the northern regions of Nigeria and we’ve done that. Now, it has been very difficult. The work there has been very, very difficult.
