Officials of the Lagos State Task Force have impounded 163 commercial motorcycles, popularly known as ‘okada’ and arrested 29 riders at Mile 2 and FESTAC area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
Task force chairman, Yinka Egbeyemi disclosed that there had been series of complaints from members of the public on criminal activities perpetuated by some of these motorcycle operators.
He said residents had been complaining of snatching of bags, phones, wallets and jewelries around these areas at night.
Egbeyemi urged members of the public to desists from patronising commercial motorcycle operators on restricted routes as anyone arrested would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
