Mr Bolaji Oyeleye, Ogun state Commissioner for Environment has warned traders in the state to stop dumping refuse in drainages or face a stiff penalty.
He gave the warning during an enforcement exercise at Lafenwa Market on Friday, in Abeokuta.
Oyeleye, who was represented by Mr Owolabi Oduntan, the State Environmental Sanitation Task Force (Team A) said the warning was to ensure a clean and healthy environment across the state.
He noted that Section 27 of the State Environmental Management (Miscellaneous) Provisions Law, 2004 prohibits dumping of refuse in drainages.
