Before Nigerians get carried away by former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent scurrilous attack against President Muhammadu Buhari, we dust from the archives an open letter written by his daughter, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello in December 2013.
It was at another juncture in Nigeria’s democratic journey, when Obasanjo wrote a scathing letter to former president Goodluck Jonathan, laced with poisoned arrows, very unsparing of the man from Otuoke. Iyabo replied him in like manner, dissecting her father, exposing his hidden traits, his pretensions, selfishness, corruption and other things.
We are republishing the letter because a common weakness among Nigerians is the lack of history, the disease of forgetfulness and short memory.
